Dear Kathi,

What can handwriting really tell about a person? And is it really that accurate? Enquiring minds wanna know, ya know. Jim K. Lakewood, CO

Dear Jim,

Excellent question and one I get asked a lot. Graphology or the study of handwriting analysis has been around since the early days of Aristotle. It is used in over 80% of the corporations in Europe for employments screening and used over here in the good ole USA quite a bit too. It’s a just a little more hush-hush.

It has been used by many of the great thinkers, such as Confucius and Carl Jung. It has truly stood the test of time. It can tell so much about a person, however, it’s easier to tell you what it cannot tell you…and there are only four things:

1. It does not predict the future.

2. It does not tell the age of the writer.

3. It does not tell the sex of the writer.

4. It does not tell if they are left handed or right handed. This last one really surprises folks, but it’s true!

Other than that, there are roughly about 5,000 different things that handwriting can tell. From who is an extrovert vs. an introvert to how a person feels about money to what the person’s sex drive is!

Is it accurate? It is amazingly accurate. With confidence I can say that when I give a private analysis, it is over 95% accurate!

Dear Kathi,

I’m fascinated by the concept of handwriting analysis, but my handwriting changes all the time. What does that mean? Am I normal? It makes me doubt the validity of what you say about handwriting analysis. Sandra K. Phoenix, AZ

Dear Sandra K,

Yes Sandra, chances are good you are probably utterly and completely normal. That is unless the slant to your handwriting varies intensely and within the same words. That is a sign of schizophrenia.

However, all of our writing changes, all the time! It will change with our moods, if we are in hurry, or if writing grocery list vs. writing a letter. But the core strokes, the key elemental factors that are seen through the eyes of a trained graphologist, do not change- strokes that most folks aren’t even aware of.

For instance, did you know that the letter t all by itself has over 30 different meanings depending on how it is written? That’s why they say, your little t’s tell tall tales!
